Super Saturday

Junior League of Greater Winter Haven will continue to plan, create and implement a one-day event to be held in the fall that will promote reading and highlight the resources available at the Winter Haven Library geared towards preschoolers. In addition, JLGWH will add to this project by planning, creating and implementing a one-day event to be held in the spring to be geared towards elementary school children (through grade 5). Children attending these events will go home with a book appropriate to their age. Activities may include Mad Science demonstrations, balloon animals, face painting, crafts, a scavenger hunt, the Fire Safety House, storytelling, puppet shows, digital fingerprinting, and other engaging presentations.

Benefits: This is a project that creates awareness of JLGWH, and by adding elementary school grades, we are positively impacting even more families. This promotes reading as a part of a family activity and one that can enhance a child's learning, starts or adds to a child's home library and continues to build the JLGWH's partnership with the library.
